Prize: 1st- $50, 2nd- $25, 3rd- $10 and publication in a science fiction collection.
Theme: Science Fiction- What if?
Deadline: August 31st, 2009

Godwana Press
Theme: Tales of Route 66 (open genre)
Prize: $50 per story, publication in Tales of Route 66 and free copy of the book
Deadline: September 1st, 2009

AnthologyBuilder: Match-That-Artwork Contest
Theme: Pick a photo on the website listed as possible cover art and write a story to match it.
Prize: General Submission Category- $200 and publication on AnthologyBuilder
Rising Star Category- $100 and publication on AnthologyBuilder
Finalists- $30 gift certificate to AnthologyBuilder and a free critique
Deadline: September 20th, 2009

Dorchester Publishing and Leisure Book's "Fresh Blood" Contest
Theme: novel length unpublished horror fiction
Prize: Winner will receive a contract for publication in Leisure’s 2011 lineup, as well as a contract from ChiZine Publications for a limited-edition hardcover release, also in 2011.
Deadline: September 30th, 2009

Fight On! Magazine Fiction Contest
Theme: "Weird Enclaves and Black Pits" Fantasy Fiction
Prizes: 1st- $100, 2nd- $60, 3rd- $30, publication in anthology and all prize winners and honorable mentions will receive a free copy of the anthology.
Deadline: Halloween 2009

Ghost Stories

Ghost stories spoken around a campfire can make us laugh, cry or scream. Flagrant Fiction's host was on the look out for a ghost story and she was genuinely surprised when she came across one that made her shiver, laugh and smile.

Gillian Taber is a writer who has been published in Neobeam, an ezine, and whose work has been purchased for an upcoming anthology, Unsent Letters. Her ghost story which is published at Helium.com mixes all the right elements to make the story seem real.

Flagrant Fiction's Hiatus

Hello Fiction Fans,

The host of this blog, Linda St.Cyr, has been busy writing, keeping up a website and submitting articles and blogs to numerous places thus Flagrant Fiction was on hiatus for a short while. Since she has found some free time and heard some great news from a wonderful writing community, she thought it was time to update Flagrant Fiction's blog.

The good news is that a new fiction anthology is about to be released to the public. Terrific stories written by authors who are on their way to becoming well-known have been compiled in a great anthology collection. Elements of the Soul is available for pre-order at a terrific price of $13 which includes shipping and handling and also a free book mark.
